How To Sell Your Property Quickly
Sparkle and Glitter
It is a fact when buyers arrive at a home for a showing the first thing they will notice is how neat and clean your home is. A home that “glitters and sparkles” will leave a lasting impression with a prospective buyer. There are a number of simple things that you can do to really make your home stand out.
Outside
Wash the windows inside and out. Make sure the curtains are open letting the natural light shine in.
Pressure wash the exterior ensuring no vines, spider webs, or other natural things have taken up residence in the gutters.
Landscaping. Make sure any hedges are trimmed and the grass is mowed. Curb appeal plays an important role in the first impression a prospective buyer will make.
If you have a sidewalk, make sure it is swept and clear of any debris.
Clean up any pet presence in the yard.
Yellow flowers are said to promote the buying spirit. Put potted marigolds near the door for a cheery and bright addition.
Make sure the house number is clearly visible from the road
Garage/Basement
Clean out the garage. If need be rent a storage unit to make the garage look as big as possible.
Repair any cracks in the floor. Make sure it is swept and neat.
Air out any musty smells in the basement.
Make sure the stairwell down is clear and swept.
If there are any water spots or cracks in the foundation, now is the time to fix them and paint. Paint will give the basement the feel of additional living space.
Inside
Clean the house from top to bottom (don’t forget ceiling fans)
Re-caulk showers, tubs and sinks (kitchen too)
Polish any chrome or brass fixtures
Clean out the refrigerator
De-clutter your home - remove as many personal items as possible that reflect your personality so that a potential buyer can “see” themselves living there
Clean out closets to make them appear larger
Arrange pieces of furniture to make rooms appear larger than they are
These are few ways to make your home appear neat and organized. There are many more small things that can be done such as putting a bowl of fresh fruit out or arranging your spice cabinet alphabetically. The main purpose a home owner needs to remember when preparing a home to sell is “what would you look for in your home search”.
