Why Would It Be A Good Time To Buy A Second Home in Oxford?

As we know, the market has dropped at a national average and we have seen a LITTLE bit of that here — hardly enough to notice. (update 2/4/09: Oxford MS Real Estate just had AS GOOD of a January as it did last year. Things are looking great!.)
I was looking at a national news story talking about why it is a good time to invest in second homes today, and one “vacation home guru” named Christine Karpinski stated, “Yes, home values are down right now but they have always rebounded. I wouldn’t recommend buying a second home with the expectation of flipping it for a quick buck, but if you hang onto it for a while — and better still, turn it into a vacation rental property — you’ll make a nice profit,”.
My Take: I couldn’t agree with this statement more. Even in Oxford this rule applies. We have received calls lately with people asking for Oxford MS homes to flip. I hate to
